About Me And The Site
Hello, I am Krishna Prasad Shrestha from Bhaktapur district of a small landlocked country named Nepal. I hope you have already heard about the country, if not let me write a little about my country first. Nepal is the same country where highest peak of the world that is Mount Everest lies, a country south to China and north from India. Want to know more about Nepal? Then click here.
Now let me write a bit about my history. I was born in mid 80s in middle class family as a youngest child of my parents. Being a youngest child I must say I got lots of love and support from my family while I learned a bit less about the practical world.
Academics:
I started my schooling in early 90s in a government school named Janak Siddhikalo Ma Vi Chapacho, study wasn't big deal, it was fairly easy to get good marks in exams and I was getting better every year. I reached upto second in rank in my class but never first. I never thought that I would study science in high school, because it was ecpensive in one hands and was suppossed to be tough on others. Fortunately what happened in my life is the more (money) I need, more my family earned and tougher subject I have to study, more labourious I became. Those two facts coupled with impressive science teacher of school (who started teaching us since 9th grade I guess) pushed me to study science faculty in Khwopa Higher Secondary School, a college ran by Bhaktapur municipality. Those high school days were the best days for my studies, The medium of study changed to English from Nepali and it was in deed a tough job at first. My hardwork definitely paid me to succeed the challenge of studying science and that is in English medium. Again I never thought I would study Engineering after completing y high school and the reasons were similar to why I thought I would never study science: It would be darn expensive, would be darn hard to get my name listed in entrance exam where students from all over Nepal will come and almost all of them would have taken preperation classes for the entrance exam. Again more (money) I needed more my family earned and tougher exams I have to face more hardwork I did. Among thousands of students from all over Nepal, who took entrance exam to study Engineering at Pulchowk Engineering Campus, which is undoubably the best Engineering college of Nepal, I was one among less than a hundred student who not only succeed to get their names listed for study but also listed in regular list which is kind of scholarship list (another list being named as one being paid, they have to pay quite a lot more compared to regular guys). I got stripened for seven out of eight semester in undergraduation sad, I missed one. Sometimes I wanted to thank god that I happen to choose Civil Engineering rather than any other Engineering, I choosed it kind of unknowingly but that's what is the best choice for developing countries like mine. There are lots of development activities undergoing that its easiest to find jobs for Civil Engineers that any other fields. I look my college friends of other faculties and see then unimployed then I just happen to think thank god!
Extra Activities:
It might be really bad part of me that I am merely involved in any physical sports, we used to play football a lot at childhood but I couln't figure out why all of sudden we stopped playing it. Bad thing about me is I tend to give chance to others first before standing up in the list and it became one of the reason why I didn't participate in extra activities of school, another reason being my school merely organizes extra activities. My high school was even bad at organizing extra activities, almost nothing, almost no games, no picnics, no programes... Undergraduation was a bit different. Trainings, picnics, blood donation, regional groups, welcome and farewell parties, exhibitions..... hmmm, life was different there. Just a quick reminder, you can visit CESS (Civil Engineering Students Society) Exhibition which is organized each year, except if there are some big hinderance. During undergraduation, I got quite attracted to one thing that is computer. Really something worth having, really a friend for doing Engineering as well as other tasks. Who would have thought that Bible can be put on small microSD card, who would have thought we can communicate with friends from another corner of the world that easy. I even learned a bit of html, php in those days and vb as well as qt/c++ by now. I am sure it would be very useful for my Ph D thesis works and/or research works.
Career:
So far I have worked in two companies. On first company I was involved in topgraphic survey for road network as well as design of road. In second company I am working as civil engineering software developer. Althought I thought I would be solely developing civil engineering softwares, that doesn't happens to be the case. What's next? International degree!! I have faced national level challenge, now lets move on and face international competition. And yes scholarship or assistanship is almost inevidably required for that. And it seems like become lecturer would be a good point for that, lets see what happens next.
About the site:
As I said I start to love computer and even learnt few tits and bits of programming since undergrads. Initially I creatd static web pages from site builder sites, then my own html pages, the my own dynamic page (php and mysql which I started during vacation for constitutional election 2008 in Nepal), created my own forum script, didn't have much time to improve the codes, then started using phpBB forum script and now phpBB forum plus drupal.
